Councilmember Cook introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #06-02-047 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING $5,000 CONTRIBUTION TO THE CITY OF RAMSEY FOUNDATION IN SUPPORT OF THE SISTER CITY RELATIONSHIP WITH LOUDI, CHINA WHEREAS, a small group of community leaders has been meeting on a regular basis to develop economic and educational connections with Sister City Loudi, China; and WHEREAS, this small group recommended creating a foundation that could receive contributions from local businesses and community groups that will benefit the City of Ramsey; and WHEREAS, The City of Ramsey Foundation was formed to support the Sister City Partnership and possibly other City of Ramsey events or interests as determined by the Foundation Board of Directors; and WHEREAS, the foundation has currently submitted official registration papers to become a public foundation with the State of Minnesota; and WHEREAS, the foundation has developed Goals and Objectives to help direct future topics and relations of the Sister City program; and WHEREAS, The City of Ramsey Foundation has adopted a start up budget for the foundation and is seeking a one-time contribution from the City of Ramsey to help the foundation pay for the initial start up fees. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the City Council of the City of Ramsey authorizes $5,000 to The City of Ramsey Foundation from the 2006 budget for contracted services within the Community Services budget. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Olson, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Gamec Councilmember Cook Councilmember Olson Councilmember Elvig Councilmember Jeffrey Councilmember Pearson and the following voted against the same: None
