We have 90 days to respond prior to the
final DNR classification.

To date, we have conducted two of three public meetings on this issue
and have also provided all of our municipalities and townships with
copies of the public water classification maps submitted by the DNR.

.

Governor. I want you to know of my extreme irritation with this project.
I am appalled, having learned what the project entails, and at the
public cost associated with this State-wide effort. The DNR staff that
has attended our public meetings have not been able to provide me with
satisfactory information; and consequently, I am asking you to investigate
two specific areas of the program:

1. What is the total public cost to the taxpayers of the State of
Minnesota for the Wetlands Tax Credit, the State Water Bank
Program, and the internal budget costs of the Department of
Natural Resources in this public waters classification effort?

2. What is the cost/benefit analysis of the entire effort?

Affirmative Action / r~..~1 I"\~~nrt.....it" Employer
