league of

rninnesot oities

January ]2, 1981

TO: City Clerks
FROM: Joel Jamn~
RE: Revenue Sharing

As you know, general revenue sharing has been extended by Congress for an additional
three year period. The level of funding for the local government share, and the
formula for allocation of funds to local governments are the same as in the past.
Because of the late date at which the law was passed, a few procedures will be
slightly different for the January distribution.

1. Statement of Assurances

The Office of Revenue Sharing mailed the "Statement of Assurances" form to
cities in late November, 1980. Make sure that your city has signed and returned
this form. ORS will not be sending out acknowledgments of receipt of this form
as they have in the past. However, they will be making a second mailing to cities
which did not respond to the November mailing. Please note: The "Statement of
Assurahces" fommust be signed and returned in order for the city to receive
revenue sharinq.

2. Time of payment
ORS will be mailing checks to cities in early January. Cities who returned
the "Statement of Assurances" before December 25 should be included in this mailing.
A second mailing of checks will be made in late January to those cities whose
"Statements of Assurances" were not received by ORS in time for inclusion in the
first mailing. There will also be a third mailing in February.

If you are in doubt as to whether you will

Eileen Barr
LL50 Metro Square Bldg.
St. Paul, MN 55101
612-296-4886

be receiving your check, contact
Karen Spaight
Office of Revenue Sharing
2401 E Street N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20026
202-634-5195

(OVER)

300 hanover building, 480 cedar street, saint paul. m~nnesota 55101 (612) 222-2861
