P~ESOLUTION #81- RESOLUTION P~EGARDING A RAILROAD UNDERPASS AT STATE TRUNK HIGHWAY #47 IN ANOKA WHEREAS, the Cotuuty of Anoka is working on providing a bridge over the Rum River which would provide the citizens of Ramsey and northern Anoka access to the existing railroadunderpass at 7th Avenue in Anoka, and WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Administration and the liinnesota De- partment of Transportation have given the Rum River Bridge Crossing a low priority rating, resulting in delays on reviews of environmental studies required for this project, and I~{EREAS, funding to construct the Rum River bridge appears to be in the distant future, and WHEREAS, the popLulation of the City of Rmmsey based on the pre- llmlnary 1980 census figures has reached 10,084, and WHEREAS the number of trains utilizing the Burlington Northern Railroad approaches 30 per day which could prohibit emergency vehicles in a life or death situation. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF I~INNESOTA, as follows: l) The Minnesota Department of Transportation make a detailed in- vestigation of the possibility of the providing a railroad underpass at the intersection of State Trtunk #47 sad the Burlington Northern Railroad sad re- port back to the City of Ramsey. 2) Direct the City Administrator to send copies of this resolution to the Minnesota Department of Transportation District 5 Traffic Safety En- gineer and the Commissioner of Transportation. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by end the following voted against the same: whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed sad adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the 10th day of February, 1981.
