The following are some of the questions that the Ramsey City Council will be directing to you at the meeting: l) ~ajor crime units - how does it interface with the Sheriff's Department and Con~nunity Police Departments in Anoka County? 2) Does the major crime unit investigate a major theft crime? If it does investigate major theft crimes, what is the dollar amount that would make it a major theft? 3) At ou~ January 13, 1981 City Council meeting, developer Jack Menkveld inquired about the progress of a burglary in- vestigation relative to a loss at one of his new home con- struction sites in Ram~ey. An inquiry was submitted also by Ramsey citizen and develOper Allen Sorteberg about pro- gress of an investigation on the theft of building material from a new house construction site located in his develop- ment. At that time the Council was able to tell those per- sons only that Ramsey police did not take the initial re- port in either of these instances. In view of this, the Council has directed me to contact the Sheriff's Department to determine what type of communication exists between the Ramsey Police and the Sheriff's office toward the exchange of information on instances when our agency does not take the initial report? 4) The City of Ramsey does receive follow up reports on the calls answered by the County Sheriff's Department which is a must report for the City of R~m~ey. Question - How long does it take the County Sheriff's Department to process this report before the City of Ramseywill receive it? Our citizens are really quite concerned about this matter.
