City of Ramsey <br /> 15153 NOWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W., RAM~SEy~, MINNESOTA 55303 <br /> <br />February 25, 1981 <br /> <br />· (612) 427-1410 <br /> <br />Governor Albert Quie <br />State Capital <br />St. Pa~l, ~innesota 55155 <br />Dear Governor Quie: <br /> The City of R~msey wants to know yoUr stance on the following extremely im- <br /> portsnt issues which face this legislative session: <br /> a) State Local Aid to Cities -.The City of R~msey wa~.ts to <br /> know what your office is proposing in legmslatzon in regards to the mn- <br /> equities to the present State Local Aid Law which expires this year. The <br /> City of R~msey along with other cities discussed this issue with you and <br /> your staff on December 5, 1980. Consequently, our City Council wo~ld like <br /> to know what changes yoU are proposing to eliminate these inequities to the <br /> present State Aid Law. Industrial and Commercial Properties - <br /> b) Property Tax on ....... ~ ~f ~rooerty tax on Indus- <br /> The present State laws that governs ~ne ~v~ v K ~ <br /> trial and Commercial properties is creating a tremendous hardship on the <br /> business community throughout the State of ~innesota. Here in the City of <br /> Ramsey with current econOmiC situation the present real estate tax laws <br /> are creating au extreme hardship on oUr business and industrial community. <br /> Consequently, our City Council wants to know if you are preparing legisla- <br /> tion for this legislative session which would alleviate this serious <br /> situation. <br /> Treating renters s~me as property owners in regards to <br /> Homestead Credit)- Here in the State of ~innesota many senior citizens~nd <br /> young married couples are treated as second class citizens in that they do <br /> not get the same monetary bresk as a homeowner gets through the total home- <br /> stead exemption law. Consequently, the Ramsey City Council questions wh~ <br /> we have such inequities in our tax laws which in effect discriminates against <br /> The Ramsey City Council is enclosing Resolution #80-71 dated July 22, 1980, <br /> which is a Resolution On~nnesota Communities: Planning For the FutUre. <br /> This resolution was adopted in response to the Governor's Forum for ~innesota <br /> <br /> <br />
