Park and Recreation Commission Meeting Date: 02/09/2023 By: Marla Martinez -Flynn, Engineering/Public Works Information Title: Affirm 2022 Photo Contest Winners 5.3. Purpose/Background: The purpose of this case is to affirm and advance the City of Ramsey 2022 Photo Contest winners to City Council. Entries were submitted in four categories and judged and evaluated based on creativity, quality, composition, and expression of category theme. (Around 100 entries were submitted in 2022, and are featured in the attachment.) Category themes are outlined as: • Nature of Ramsey: Viewing landscapes, plants, animals, weather, etc. • Parks and Trails: Enjoying parks and trails in Ramsey, highlighting favorite outdoor spaces • Industry and Commerce of Ramsey: Displaying diversity of industrial, commercial, and agricultural operations in Ramsey • Life in Ramsey: Celebrating the community through events, recreation, arts, culture, sports, and gathering places, etc. All winners will be announced at an upcoming City Council meeting. Attached are all the submissions (around 100) for the 2022 Photo Contest, separated into categories. Notification: Observations/Alternatives: Funding Source: The winners will be awarded gift certificates at a Ramsey retailer in the amounts of: Overall Grand -Prize $100, first place in each of the four categories will receive $50, second place in each category $25, and third place in each category will be awarded $15. Recommendation: Winners were selected by the contest judges for affirmation by the Commission —Staff will 'announce' and show the winning photo(s) at the meeting. Action: Motion to affirm the 2022 Photo Contest Winners.
