Further Disczrssion: Councilmember McGlone asked Councilmember Dehen if he wished to be <br />considered for Chair of the Personnel Committee. Councilmember Dehen stated he has served <br />on the Council for two years and would like to chair the Personnel Committee. <br />Motion failed. Voting Yes: Chairperson Jeffrey. Voting No: Councilmembers McGlone and <br />Dehen. <br />Motion by Councilmember Dehen, seconded by Councilmember McGlone, to appoint John <br />Dehen as Chair of the Personnel Committee for 2009. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Dehen and McGlone. Voting No: Chairperson <br />Jeffrey. <br />COMMITTEE INPUT <br />Councilmember McGlone stated in a recent meeting with the payroll staff, Finance Director <br />Lund made reference to pay being made on 80 hours and the City has to adjust payroll typically <br />only when it adds overtime to payroll. He stated as an employer, that causes great concern to <br />him. He indicated if, for lack of better term, you do not provide ten minutes a day to 85 people, <br />that amounts to approximately $60,000 per year. He added employees are the City's greatest <br />expense and this goes further than just hourly pay.
