PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission <br />was held on Tuesday, July 3, 1984 at the Ramsey Municipal <br />Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Kenneth Peterson, <br />Mr. Gerald Z~merman <br />Mr. Benjamin Deemer <br />Mr. Lee Johnson <br />Mr. Terry Hendriksen <br />Mr. Charles LaDue <br />Dr. Duane Kennen <br /> <br />Chairman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Lloyd Schnelle (arrived 7:41 pm) <br />City Attorney William Goodrich (arrived 7:41 pm) <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairman Peterson called the regular meeting to order at 7:36 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Brenda Bauerkemper - 162nd Lane NW - Stated that the Ramsey <br />Coalition requested of the Anoka County Soil and Water <br />Conservation District, an evaluation of soils in the proposed <br />Ramsey landfill expansion area. Ms. Bauerkemper stated that <br />she has received that report, read the cover letter and <br />submitted the report to the Planning Commission. (See Attachment <br />I). <br /> <br />Commissioner Deemer stated that the maps included in this report <br />show an area of about 5 acres out of 80 acres as wet soils and <br />the cover letter stated that about 1/4 of the area is wet soils. <br /> <br />Brenda Bauerkemper - Stated she has not had time to study the <br />report; just reading what the Conservation District had to say <br />in their cover letter. <br /> <br />Doug Fountain 15255 Garnet - Read portions of an article <br />entitled "State-of-the-Art Landfills" that appeared in the Anoka <br />County Union on June 15, 1984. (See Attachment II). Mr. Fountain <br />stated that there are other alternatives available to burying <br />waste within the City of Ramsey. Anoka County is going to get <br />into that and will be addressing waste management within the <br />County, thoroughly and don't believe it will include much burial <br />of waste; it will include separation of metals, composting and <br />incineration. Mr. Fountain stated that the June 25, 1984 public <br />hearing was a public statement from the citizens of the entire <br />community saying that they do not need further burial as a waste <br />management facility in the City of Ramsey.
