The expanded methane gas venting system consists of thirteen (13) extraction wells along the west and north periphery of the landfill. In addition to increasing the number 6f extraction wells, the blower unit capacity has been increased and is equipped with a back-up unit. The new system will also have the capability of flaring the gas to eliminate odors. The expansion to the system will serve to better protect adjacent properties from the potential effects of methane gas. Condition I.B. Special Construction of existing permit SW-94 is proposed to be amended as follows: An active methane gas venting system is to be installed along the northern and western property boundaries of the site. The system is to be constructed and operated in accordance with "Post Construction and Operations Report, Landfill Gas Extraction and Control System, Anoka Sanitary Landfill" March, 1981.
