METROPOLITAN WASTE CONTROL COMMISSION <br />350 Metro Square Building, Saint Paul, Minnesota 55101 <br />222 -8423 <br />March 27, 1981 <br />PROPOSED CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FOR SERVICE AREAS <br />2 AND 3 OVER THE NEXT FIVE YEARS <br />ANOKA INTERCEPTOR: This facility will provide sewer service to the western <br />portion of Ramsey, unsewered areas of Anoka, and provide capacity relief for <br />portions of Anoka's local sewer system. The Anoka interceptor will discharge <br />to the existing Anoka WWTP. The interceptor is scheduled to begin construction <br />in the spring of 1981. Construction should be completed sometime during the <br />fall of 1982. COST . . . $4.2 Million <br />CAB INTERCEPTOR: This facility will provide service to Northern Brooklyn Park, <br />Sout eastern C amplin, Northern Champlin (presently served to the Anoka WWTP), <br />• Anoka (with Anoka WWTP phase -out), Ramsey (with Anoka WWTP phase -out) and <br />Western Andover (with Anoka WWTP phase -out). In addition, the Lower Segment <br />will be designed with service capacity for the Elm Creek Interceptor, proposed <br />for future service to areas of Plymouth, Maple Grove and Medina, within the <br />Elm Creek Watershed. This interceptor is needed in 1985 for service to Northern <br />Brooklyn Park and Champlin. As previously noted, service to Anoka, Ramsey and <br />Western Andover will take place when the Anoka WWTP is phased out. The Lower <br />Segment will discharge into the existing MWCC Interceptor in Brooklyn Park. <br />COST . . . $22 Million <br />ANOKA WWTP PHASE -OUT INTERCEPTOR SEGMENT This facility will divert all flows <br />at the Anoka WWTP to the Lower Segment. This will involve a lift station and a <br />forcemain /river crossing connecting into the end of Lower Segment in Champlin. <br />The Anoka Plant should be phased -out when the plant flow reaches the design <br />capacity in about 1985. COST . . . $2 Million <br />• SECOND RAMSEY INTERCEPTOR CONNECTION This facility will provide service to the <br />eastern portion of Ramsey and adjacent unsewered areas of Anoka. This will be a <br />gravity sewer connecting to the Anoka Interceptor (Upper Segment) just west of <br />Highway 47 in Anoka. This will provide Ramsey a connection at Highway 47 near <br />their community border. The need for this service is projected to be after <br />1985 for eastern Ramsey. COST . . . $1 Million <br />BLAINE INTERCEPTOR A gravity interceptor designed to serve the south - central <br />area of the City of Blaine. The interceptor will extend from the southeast <br />border of Blaine near I -35 and connect to the existing MWCC Interceptor (4 -NS -523) <br />located in the northwest portion of the City of Shoreview. The proposed con- <br />struction should be in 1985. COST . . . $1.5 Million <br />
