REPORT ON FEASIBILITY STUDY
FOR 159TH AVENUE N.W.
STOPJt DRAIN IMPROVEMENTS

Scope:

The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of providing storm
drain improvements to serve the above referenced area.

The project area lies within the Southwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter

and the Southeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Section 15, Range 25
C~West, Township 32 North, City of Ramsey, Anoka County, Minnesota.
area of benefit is generally bounded by 159th Avenue N.W. on the North,
Dolomite Street N.W. on the West, County Road 56 on the East and 158th Lane
N.W. on the South as shown on Exhibit A.

Existing Conditions:
The existing drainage system consists of bituminous berm section streets which

divert the drainage to ponding areas. The ponding areas are used as percolation
~,basins to assimilate the runoff. The runoff from the area of benefit as shown
)n Exhibit A presently.drains unto parcel 8490. During heavy rains and prior to
the spring thaw, a large portion of parcel 8490 is subjJct to flooding. Also the
on-site wastewater disposal system is located in the area that floods.

Proposed Drainage Improvements:
To resolve the drainage problem, several alternatives were reviewed. Based on
the Comprehensive Storm Drainage Plan for the City of Ramsey, this'area is
ultimately p~oposed to be drained to the East to County Ditch No. 66 and 3. In
reviewing this alternate, we found that it was not a feasible solution for the
area studied at the present time. In the future, if sewer and water are installed
and lot sizes are reduced, or if the area to be provided storm sewer is expanded,

-1-
