Honorable Mayor and City Council
City of Ramsey
June 18, 1981
Page Five

The Mt. Simon formation lies at a greater depth. It is estimated that this
formation could supply from 800 to 1000 gpm, or perhaps somewhat more. Such a
well would be somewhat over 600 feet in depth. Because of its greater depth and
the additional casing required to case out the higher water bearing formations,
such a well would cost about twice as much as an Ironton-Galesville well.

We have concluded that wells are a feasible source of municipal water supply in
Ramsey, although the cost of well water in Ramsey may be somewhat higher than in
other metropolitan area communities. This is because the higher yields available
elsewhere {1500 gpm or more) are probably not available in Ramsey for geologic _
reasons. ·

Due to the variability of the area's geology, we would recommend that the city
consider the drilling of a test well or wells before attempting construction of
a deep water supply well. Test drilling would allow a more accurate deep well
design, and could result in a net saving if the desired quantity of water was
found at.a shallower depth during test drilling. ..

Respectfully submitted,

CONSULTING ENGINEERS DIVERSIFIED, INC.

KJA/dn
File: ETS: 01-!

I hereby certify that this plan, specification
or report was prepared by me or under my direct
supervision and that I am a duly Registered
Professional Engineer under State of Minnesota
Statutes Sections 326.02 to 326.16.

Date: ~/__~'flinn.
