CHAPTER
PRESIDENT'S
, REPORT

NAIOP COMPREHENSIVE OFFICE PARK COURSE
Congratulations and thanks to all of you who either attended or partici-
pated in this National NAIOP event. It was the best attendance ever at
this particular event and we should be proud it happened in Minneapolis-
St. Paul under the guidance of Ken Stensby of United Properties.
The kickoff dinner to the event was well-attended by our chapter members and the
keynote address was delivered by Gerry Rauenhorst. Tuesday morning, however,
was the highlight event as about 200 local members joined approximately 100
office park attendees to hear the update on the multi.tenant office/warehouse
market. David Weir, Michael Buzar, David Bruce and Paul Svobodny are due the
credit for this most well-attended and informative breakfast meeting.

UPCOMING PROGRAMS
We have two of the best programs of the year coming up. The
office spaCe of the future, to be discussed in June, is some-
thing I am very interested in hearing about - the explosive
grai~th of telecommunications will affect not only how
b~ngs are built, but also where they are located. This topic
w~e followed in July by a half-day seminar on financing.
What is a bigger problem today? We will have current
studies from local developers and a discussion of pension runn
activities in real estate and future t'mancing trends from both
local and national experts. This seminar is shaping up to be
great. Please don't miss either of them!

most of them. Remember the fun that was had at Sam's home
last yeax? For more information, please refer to the insert in
this newsletter.

POSITION PAPERS
As I stated in my "Goals and Objectives" for the year, I want
NAIOP members to be heard and our ideas to be put forth.
In addition to our strong state legislative effort of which
you are all aware, the executive committee has taken positions
on your behalf on two other issues. We opposed the elimina-
tion of continuing education credits and advocated an industry
self-regulating body to administer credits instead of having a
governmental body perform this task. Secondly, we urged the

PICNIC continuation of a viable state economic development activity
SUMMER . - ........... for a balanCed state budget.
