Members Present: Paul Reifenberger, Steve Onstad, Jim Stewart, Dennis Donovan, <br /> Alice Rasmussen, and Dorothy Stadfelt. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Gary Reiman, Curt Titterud, Tim Kelsey, and Tom Ihrke. <br /> <br />Introductions: Each person went around and introduced themselves, who they <br />represent, why they thought they were here, and what they would do if they had a <br />million dollars. Needless to say the response to the last two questions was most <br />interesting. <br /> <br />C. Purpose of the Evening: The general purpose for the meeting was to: <br /> <br />Begin to get acquainted , <br />Develop an awareness as to what our charge is. <br />Clarify how we will operate. It was pointed out that we will discuss, share, <br />brainstorm, and prioritize. Our plan is to develop a report that would be <br />submitted to the city council, advisory eouneil, and School Board that will <br />address the following items: <br /> <br />· Scope and direction of the Ramsey Community School operation <br />· Priority ranking of each oomponent <br />· Funding plan <br /> <br />What is Community Education? Jim Stewart reviewed two handouts that outlined the <br />philosophy of eommu~.ity education and the broad goals. <br /> <br />What ard Our Objectives? Considerable discussion ooeurred on this matter. In <br />addition, to the handout, the group added the following objectives: <br /> <br />1. Identify the relationship of the community school program to a service <br /> organization such as Lions, Jaycees, etc. <br />2. Determine a funding plan to operate the community school operation. <br />3. Explore the need end role of the community school with regard to Latch Key. <br />4. Determine the need to explore a chemical awareness program. <br />5. Explore the relationship of the community school program to the day school <br /> program. <br />6. Explore the relationship of the community school program to all the youth groups <br /> and organizations. <br /> <br />lof2 <br /> <br /> <br />
