MEMO

DATE: November 5, 1984
TO: Ramsey Task Force ·
~mary
RE: October 29 MeetYn~ Date November 1, 1983

The following is a summ .a~ of the meeting.

Members Present.' Paul Reifenberger, Steve Onstad, Alice Rasmussen, Barb Boelter, Gary
Reiman, Tom lhrke, Tim Kclsey, Curt Titterud, Dennis Donavon, Dorothy Stadfelt, Jim
Stewart.

Youth Program: Jim Stewart distributed information on the Ramsey Community School
enrollment, finances, Sandburg enrollments, senior citizen population, teen population,
and fall brochure. There was considerable discussion around the enrollments, fees, and
finances.

Although the range in fees suggested that fees remain constant the past four years, the
fact is that fees have increased, in particular the past two years. It was the opinion of
most that fees in the $8.00 and $10.00 range for ehildren's classes would result in some
reduction of participation. ALso, it was felt that a plan must be incorporated to reduce
fees for low income families.

There was considerable discussion that more needs to be done for teens, in particular
seventh, eighth, and ninth graders. The statistics suggest that they represent between ten
and twenty percent of the population.

The following is a summary of the athletic programs available to children K-4 grade.

Ramsey Hockey Association

Instructional skating for ages 4, 5, and 6.
Mites, ages 5, 6, ?, and 8.
Squirts, ages 9 and 10.

In addition, there are two traveling teams for 9 and 10 year olds.

Ramsey Athletic Association

Soccer K-4
Baseball/Softbail ages grades 3 and 4
Football grade 4
Basketball grade 4

It was agreed that we will take the existing program and cost it out at the current level
plus at a $2.00 and a $4.00 increase.

lof2
