Council regarding an appointment to the Airport C~,,,dssion will be made by <br />consensus rather than motion. <br /> <br />~e C~,~ission proceeded to interview the 3 applicants for the position. <br /> <br />Don Stauffer - Stated that he has been interested in aviation all his life <br />and that his father was a pilot. Mr. Stauffer stated that he has worked <br />in the aerospace industry for 20 years and served as an officer in the Air <br />Force. Stated that most of his flight experience is military related but <br />he is aware of prd~l~s associated with private flight. Mr. Stauffer <br />stated that his h~me is 1 mile fr~ the end of the Gateway North runway <br />and he is conscious of the noise, safety and property value aspects; he is <br />acquainted with both sides of the issue. Mr. Stauffer stated that he has <br />not been actively flying for the last 5 years. <br /> <br />Ron Erickson - Stated that he is a 10 year Ramsay resident, private pilot <br />and has not flown much over the years. Mr. Erickson stated he is <br />interested in getting involved in municipal affairs; he is interested in <br />seeing Ramsey expand and increase it's tax base and an improved airport <br />could aid in that expansion. Mr. Erickson stated that he is not 100% <br />convinced as yet, but he can make an impartial decision based on potential <br />economic benefits to Bamsey. Mr. Erickson stated that his expertise is in <br />financial management; he is amployed at Boneywell and has recently taken <br />the position of Controller of Ca~mercial Aviation. <br /> <br />Steve Larsen - Stated that he is a 14 year Ramsey resident and a private <br />pilot. Stated that as a resident of Ramsey, he is interested in seeing <br />that Ramsay gets the most for it's dollar and that taxes re~ain neutral. <br /> <br />G~airman Ippel stated that the CuL,uission is impressed with all 3 <br />applicants and that there is one i~ediate position to fill and there <br />could potentially be more vacancies in the near future. <br /> <br />C~issioner Morr~ stated that his term expires in December of 1984 and <br />he will not seek reappointm~nt to the C~,,Ldssion. <br /> <br />G~airman Ippel stated that in conversations with Mr. Patz, he gets the <br />impression that Mr. Pats would be more cc~fortable with providing the <br />Cu,¢:,iesion with his expertise on an as needed basis and giving up his <br />position on the Cu~ission to a local person that would be better able to <br />attend the meetings. <br /> <br />Bruce ~cmpson stated that he has a general interest in aviation but <br />declined to apply for a position on the Cc~miasion because the last he <br />heard the C(mm,ission, in an attempt to avoid controversy, was seeking-a <br />non-aviation type person for the vacancy. <br /> <br />C~airman Ippel explained that everybody on the Cu~uission is trying to be <br />impartial, but it does take a certain amount of aviation expertise to sit <br />d~wn and review an airport master plan.
