CASE # <br /> <br />RECEIVE BIDS AND AWARD CONTRACT FOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT #05-20, <br />RAMSEY BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENTS <br /> By: Leonard Linton, Civil Engineer II <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Improvement Project #05-20 consists of bituminous surfacing, drainage improvements and <br />installation of traffic signals on Ramsey Boulevard. The work areas are fi.om the BNSF tracks <br />north to the southern limits of the 2004 widening project and fi.om the northern limits of the 2004 <br />project to 1000 feet north of Bunker Lake Boulevard. Bunker Lake Boulevard is being widened <br />1000 feet east and west of Ramsey Boulevard, traffic signals will be installed at Sunwood Drive <br />and Bunker Lake Boulevard. <br /> <br />Authorization to advertise for bids was ordered on January 24, 2006, and bids were opened on <br />Tuesday March 28, 2006. <br /> <br />Five (5) bids were received and ranged fi.om $1,782,258.47 to $1,999,283.10. McCrossan Construction, Inc. <br /> <br />Amount of Bid <br />$1,782,258.47 <br />$1,848,642.29 <br />$1,882,153.43 <br />$1,949,850.62 <br />$1,999,283.10 <br /> <br />Engineers Estimate: <br /> <br />$1,892,877.15 <br /> <br />As part of the Master Development Agreement for the Ramsey Town Center, this is a major <br />portion of the Regional Roadway Improvements that will be partially assessed to the RTC. Since <br />it is an assessment project, a petition fi.om the property owners that will be assessed for this <br />improvement is required as well as a Feasibility Study needs to be prepared. The petition and <br />feasibility study were accepted at the February 22, 2005 City Council Meeting. <br /> <br />Ramsey Boulevard is a county highway. The city has entered into a Joint Powers Agreement <br />with Anoka County for construction of Regional Roadway Improvements, including Ramsey <br />Boulevard. The Joint Powers Agreement outlines the form of reimbursement fi.om the County to <br />the City for the County Share of the Construction Cost. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />It is Staff's recommendation to award the contract to Park Construction Company in the amount <br />of $1,782,258.47. <br /> <br />-213- <br /> <br /> <br />
