Board member Max stated the City is doing the inventory that is self replicating. He stated that
to the extent that nothing ever happens to the wetlands, it may never happen again. He stated
that some of the inventory will be done as wetlands get developed.

Environmental Specialist Bacon noted if there is ongoing monitoring, funding might be tied into.
He stated that once development is done possibly nobody will pay attention. He suggested that
the City needs to be looking at the County as well as other interested agencies.

Acting Chairperson Max closed Case #3 and referred back to Case #2. He stated that
Chairperson McDilda was going to go through the Expo topics. He stated that the Expo was
rapidly approaching and topics should be discussed.

Environmental Specialist Bacon stated that the water quality was one issue for the Expo.

Board member Olds stated that he felt the Peterson report or parts of it would be important to
highlight. He suggested that changes to the tree ordinance would make a good topic for the
Expo.

Acting Chairperson Max stated that Chairperson McDilda had mentioned that he was putting
together specific topics for education. He stated that he would e-mail Chairperson McDilda and
have it forward to the EPB members.

Board member Freeburg stated that someone should be contacted from the Minnesota
Environmental Advocacy to be at the Expo.

Acting Chairperson Max noted one challenge of the Expo was that kids came with their parents,
but parents didn't come in. He stated that he felt there should be more of an awareness that
parents could come for the educational seminars.

Board member Hustvedt suggested a round table with issues that the residents might be
interested in. He noted that the word could get out about other things statewide.

The EPB members discussed the possibility of additional informational meetings with round
table discussions, presenting information of local interest at the Expo for upcoming meetings.

Environmental Specialist Bacon noted that it was an election year and the local candidates could
be invited.

Acting Chairperson Max stated he will follow up by getting in touch with Chairperson McDilda
to find out what he was thinking about for topics.

Environmental Specialist Bacon stated that he would provide members with a form to fill out for
contact organizations that may be interested in participating in the Expo.

STAFF INPUT

Environmental Policy Board/February 6, 2006
Page 9 of 10
