CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 05/23/2023 <br />By: Colleen Lasher, Administrative Services <br />Information <br />Title <br />Authorization to Hire a Streets Maintenance Worker to Fill a Current Vacancy <br />5.8. <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to request authorization to hire a full-time Streets Maintenance Worker to fill a current <br />vacancy. <br />Staff conducted a recruitment and interview process to fill the vacancy. Staff selected Mr. Brandon Hodgemen as <br />the top candidate. Subsequently, Mr. Hodgeman underwent and passed the City's pre -employment testing process, <br />including a criminal background check, professional reference check, driving record check and employment <br />verifications; as well as a physical exam and drug screen. The City extended a job offer which is contingent upon <br />City Council approval. Staff is recommending the top candidate, Mr. Hodgeman be hired as a full-time Streets <br />Maintenance Worker. Mr. Hodgeman will be subject to a 6-month probationary period and all Personnel Policies <br />and/or employment contracts will apply. <br />Notification: <br />The Street Maintenance Worker position is responsible for constructing and maintaining streets, parking lots and <br />related property; performing snow related activities; performing general maintenance activities; performing <br />general labor; performing vehicle and motorized equipment maintenance; performing and assisting with <br />landscape, grounds care, and forestry/naturalist activities; providing assistance with preparation of community <br />events; performing mechanical building maintenance and repair; as well as a wide range of other tasks as required. <br />In addition, the Streets Maintenance Worker is required be a member of the Public Works on -call team and work <br />a rotating on -call schedule 8 weeks per year. This requires employees to be available to respond during evenings, <br />weekends and holidays. <br />Funding Source: <br />The funding required for this position has already been included in the 2023 budget. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends hiring Mr. Brandon Hodgeman as a full-time Public Works Streets Maintenance Worker, <br />effective on or near June 12, 2023, at $25.749 per hour, which is step 1 of the 2023 wage scale. <br />Action: <br />Motion to to hire Mr. Brandon Hodgeman as a full-time Public Works Streets Maintenance Worker, <br />effective on or near June 12, 2023, at $25.749 per hour, which is step 1 of the 2023 wage scale. <br />Attachments <br />No file(s) attached. <br />
