MULTI FAMILY UNIT ADDRESS SIGNING POLICY

Purpose:

Some town house addresses are not visible from the street on which their address is
assigned due to driveways which service multiple units. However, emergency responders
and the general public need to be able to locate an address without having to drive down
these short stubs to check for address numbers. This policy is to insure the quick
identification of such addresses for the health, safety and public welfare and to provide
uniform standards for such signage.

Policy:

It shall be the policy to require address tags on all multiple unit driveways where all
residential unit addresses cannot be clearly seen from the street on which these units are
located. To insure that such address tags meet minimum standards for reflectivity and
conformity it should be the City Public Works Department's responsibility for the
installation and maintenance of these address tags. Developers shall be required to pay
the cost of these address sign tags as an element of the Stage 2 improvements identified
in the subdivision development agreement. The Public Works Department will be
responsible for the maintenance and replacement of these address tags.

7
