Io <br /> <br /> Adoption of an Ordinance Amending <br />Section 3.20, Personnel Policy and Section 3.14, Police Department <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />Staff, including department heads and the city administrator, recently completed a <br />comprehensive review of the City's personnel policy. Currently, some sections of the <br />personnel policy are revised by ordinance and others are revised by resolution. Staff has <br />combined all sections of the personnel policy into one document which will be adopted, <br />and subsequently revised, by resolution. <br /> <br />An ordinance amending Section 3.20, Personnel Policy and Section 3.14 Police <br />Department, is attached for your consideration. Section 3.20, Personnel Policy, will be <br />amended to note that the City's personnel policy will be removed from the City Code and <br />that it was adopted by resolution and, in the future, it will be amended by resolution. <br /> <br />Section 3.14, Police Department, will be amended by adding language from Section 3.20, <br />Personnel Policy, that allows the Ramsey Police Department to conduct pre-employment <br />criminal background checks. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council adopt an ordinance amending Section 3.20, <br />Personnel Policy and Section 3.14, Police Department. <br /> <br />CC: April 25, 2006 <br /> <br />G:La. dministration~HumaaResources~PersonneI.Admin Policies~oersonnel Policy~adopt of ord ending amending chapter 3, personnel policy 4-25-06.doc <br /> -335- <br /> <br /> <br />
