CASE #

CONSIDER CONDEMNATION OF PROPERTY
IN RAMSEY CROSSINGS PROJECT
By: James E. Norman, City Administrator

Background:

The City Council took action earlier this year to begin eminent domain on 15 parcels within the
project area defined as Ramsey Crossings. One additional property located on 14550 Armstrong
Boulevard was under a separate eminent domain action by Anoka County for right-of-way
acquisition along Armstrong Boulevard. The Oasis Market, owned by North Maple Holdings,
was not part of the Ramsey Crossings condemnation action. Staff and the City Attorney have
determined this week that it would be in the best interest of the project to include the North
Maple Holdings property, in the event that the right-of-way acquisition is not able to acquire the
entire parcel.

The City Attorney is in the process of developing the Kurak case for Council action and it will be
distributed at the Council meeting.

Council Action:

Motion to begin condemnation action on the parcel defined within the Ramsey Crossings project.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator
City Attorney

Special CC: 05/02/06
