5. 6. <br />CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: <br />Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: <br />06/27/2023 <br />Not Applicable <br />Information <br />Title <br />Authorization to Adjust the Hourly Pay for Draw Concert Series Temporary Staffing <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to receive authorization to increase the hourly pay for a temporary seasonal employee <br />while staffing the Draw Concert Series events. <br />As the City Council is aware, previously, the Recreation Specialist provided staff coverage during the Draw <br />Concerts. This position is currently vacant. However, the City currently employs a temporary seasonal worker <br />with experience assisting at the events. Last year, Mr. Nate Langer assisted the Recreation Specialist at the <br />concert events. Mr. Langer is familiar with the role and has been covering the events without other staff support. <br />Mr. Langer's ability to work the events saves the City from paying overtime pay to full-time regular maintenance <br />workers. <br />Staff is requesting authorization to increase Mr. Langer's hourly pay from $15.00 to $20.599 per hour for the time <br />worked related to the 2023 Draw Concert events. This amount is equal to 80% of a regular Public Works <br />Maintenance Worker at step 1 of the wage scale. While this is not a union position, the AFSCME labor <br />agreement uses this formula for certain long-term temporary employees.
