Stine ~.~ <br />Area Hydrologist <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />O ice Memoranctum <br /> <br /> PHONE <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br /> <br />296-7523 <br /> <br />VOLD VARIANCE A~ STAIRWAY ONSITE INSPECTION 4/19/88 <br /> <br />I made a field inspection with Anne Norris, City of Ramsey, of the <br />Vold property at 5355 - 165th Lane N.W. which is on the Rum River. <br />Ken and Sandy Void would like to construct a stairway and landing <br />system do~m their bank which basically follows the existing stairway <br />system which has been in place for several years. The existing <br />stair~cay is an in-ground stairway and the railroad tie steps are <br />deteriorating. They would like to construct an above-grade stairway <br />system in a do~stream directiom to hit a lower landing location. I <br />thought that was reasonable and Mr. Vold will prepare plans in that <br />regard. <br /> <br />They had also discussed making an addition to their house for a <br />three level deck, the highest level being near the eave. The <br />purpose for this three level deck is to expand the living area of <br />their house and to gain a view of the river. ! climbed up onto the <br />roof with Mr. Vold to see how this would appear as viewed from the <br />river. The structure would be basically totally screened in an <br />upstream and do%~stream direction with only a small area of river <br />being visible through the pine trees directly in front of the <br />structure.
