5 Minutes CASE ~16: <br /> <br /> CIVIL DEFENSE WARNING SIRENS <br />By: Dave Hartley, City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br />Enclosed is a notice to bidders and specifications describing the civil defense <br />warning system requirements for the City of Ramsey. <br />The placement of sirens has been determined with the following objectives: <br /> !) To provide at least 70 db coverage to most populated areas within <br /> Ramsey; <br /> <br /> 2) To not waste siren coverage on areas where people are unlikely to <br /> benefit from such warning; <br /> <br />3) To locate sirens on public property wherever possible; <br /> <br />4) To locate sirens where adequate electrical service exists. <br /> <br />The specifications call for a low maintenance electronic siren which is <br />compatible with the Anoka County civil defense radio system. The estimated <br />cost for these sirens is $200,000. <br /> <br />Specifications for the Healy Ruff radio tone decoders are being sought from <br />Anoka County.
