Jim Hiltz, architect, and I, met
with the Park Commission subcommittee to discuss program requirements
for a park center structure and to discuss budget concerns.
Program requirements that have been identified are:

' 1 Current Future
Essent~a

Restrooms
Equipment Storage (12x15)
Small Kitchen/Concession
Meeting Area
M/E Room

-- (18x20) 360 SF
180 SF (20X14) 280
-- (10x12) 120
-- 24x24 576
-- (8x12) 96
1,432

Desirable (?)

Teen Center
Picnic Shelter (roof and slab only)
small Maintenance Supply Area
Very preliminary cost estimates for a very basic park center structure
are in the range of $80,000 to $90,000, somewhat over what the Council
authorized ($75,000) ·
Concurrently, we are revising the warming house specifications. As
you are aware, the Lions have pledged $50,000 for this cohstruction.
Last year they received one bid for complete construction of $130,000.
We have revised the building specifications to a base building
preliminary cost of $52,000 not including mechanical and electrical
(M/E) The M/E specifications are to be revised shortly but we are
waiting to receive M/E bids from the Lion's prevlou efforts to
determine where cost cutting would be most effective. It is
anticipated that M/E costs will be, at a minimum, around $18,000 to
$20,000. The M/E bids received by the Lion's was $36,000. At this
point only two cons~-derat~-ons remain (ne_~he~ of which are aesp-robie)
These are to reduce the building size substantially or to go to wood
frame construction.
