CITY OF <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mediation Services for Anoka County was established in <br />1987 for the purpose of assisting citizens of Anoka County in <br />resolving disputes through the use of a neutral, third party <br />volunteer mediator; and <br /> WHEREAS, Mediation Services for Anoka County is a community <br />program which is an effective grassroots vehicle for introducing <br />the public to effective conflict management and to resolution of <br />disputes; and <br /> WHEREAS, in every community there are numerous disputes which <br />are not amenable to legal proceedings or police action, but disrupt <br />lives of individuals involved; and <br /> WHEREAS, Mediation Services for Anoka County is staffed by <br />volunteers that are mediators, case developers, office staff and <br />board members; and <br /> WHEREAS, these volunteers served 324 people during its first <br /> year and totaled more than 1300 hours of volunteer service. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby <br /> acknowledges and congratulates Mediation Services for Anoka County <br /> for a successful first year; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby extends <br /> its deep appreciation to the many'volunteers who worked so diligently <br /> to make Anoka County and especially the City of a better place <br /> to live and that the City Council hereby bestows upon them the <br /> designation of "Outstanding Citizens" of <br /> <br /> IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have <br /> hereunto set my hand and caused <br /> the Seal of the City of to <br /> be affixed this day of , <br /> 1988. <br /> <br /> <br />
