10 Minutes CASE ~9: <br /> <br /> DESICNATE USES FOR 1988 CDBC FUNDS <br />By: Anne Norris, Community Development Director <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />As you may know, Anoka County is responsible for allocating Community <br />Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the U. S. Department of Housing and <br />Urban Development. Anoka County has allocated approximately $25,000 to the <br />City of Ramsey to be used for HUD eligible activities in Fiscal Year 1988. <br />Over the past several years the City Council has authorized the use of CDBG <br />funds for completion of a Highway #10 Corridor Study and to establish a <br />revolving loan fund for economic development activities (administered by the <br />Ramsey Economic Development Company). <br /> <br />The purpose Of CDBG funds is to encourage activities.that reduce blight, assist <br />low and moderate income persons, or assist in economic development. <br /> <br />Eligible activities include: <br /> <br />a) Planning activities; <br />b) Housing rehabilitation loans for low and moderate income persons; <br />c) Economic development activities such as loans to businesses for job <br /> creation/job retention; and <br />d) Public service activities such as providing transportation services to <br /> senior citizens or day care services to low and moderate income <br /> <br />A recommendation of fund uses and a draft resolution requesting Anoka County <br />approval of the proposed use(s) will be available at the meeting. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to: <br />Adopt Resolution #88- requesting Anoka County approval of Ramsey's <br />proposed use of CDBG funds allocated for Fiscal Year 1988. <br /> <br />Review Checklist: <br /> <br />Administrator X <br />Attorney <br />Engineer <br />Community Development Director X <br /> <br />Chief of Police <br />Finance Officer <br />Public Works Superintendent <br />Other <br /> <br /> <br />
