Absent: Councilmember Cox.

Case ~18: Adopt Ordinance To ReEulate Diseased Trees:

Per Council direction, Mr. Goodrich stated that he has researched and if
the City wants the type of control proposed in this ordinance, it will have
to adopt this ordinance and not rely on the State's ordinance.

Mr. Eartley stated that currently, the entire city is established aa a tree
disease control area. The adoption of the proposed ordinance will require
redesignating a control area, either the entire city or portions of it.
There will not be a substantial cost to the City for enforcement as the
Tree Inspector is already performing a lot of inspections. The cost of
enforcement to individuals could be substantial, but it could also be a
substantial loss to them if they loose the trees that make their property
valuable.

Council directed the Tree Inspector to review and make a recommendation for
a disease control area in Ramsey.
City Council/June 14, 1988
