A description of these items are as such: <br /> <br />Motor Grader <br /> <br />The new grader would replace a 1978 John Deere Grader. Costs of repairing the <br />current grader is costing more than its actual present value. Included in the 1998 <br />year-end transfer was $132,500 and $68,258 in the equipment replacement fund <br />(depreciated value of the 1978 John Deere Grader) for a total of $200,758 to fund <br />the purchase of a new grader. A new grader can be purchased from the State of <br />Minnesota Cooperative Purchasing Venture. It is being requested that staff be <br />allowed to order the grader through the State contract. <br /> <br />One-Ton Truck <br /> <br />This one-ton truck would be a new vehicle in the City's fleet. This truck <br />would be utilized by the new maintenance worker who was hired effective, <br />January 1, 1999. Included in the 1998 year-end budget transfer was $40,000 to <br />fund this purchase. The truck can be purchased from the Hennepin County <br />Purchasing Cooperative. It is being requested that staff be allowed <br />to order the one-ton through the County contract. <br /> <br />Cab and Chassis <br /> <br />The purchase of a truck cab and chassis would replace the existing chassis on Unit <br />#602. The existing water trucks chassis has deteriorated to the point that its <br />beyond repair. Included in the 1998 year-end budget transfer was $40,000 to <br />acquire a cab and chassis. It has been determined that neither of the cooperative <br />purchasing ventures have awarded contracts for truck cab and chassis making it <br />necessary to prepare specifications and solicit sealed bids, as it is estimated to be <br />in excess of $25,000. It is being requested that staff be allowed to prepare <br />specifications and solicit sealed bids for this purchase. <br /> <br />Capital Items - Category #2. - The items that fall under this category are as follows: <br /> <br />General Government Buildings: <br /> <br />Included in the 1999 budget is $10,000 for tuckpointing of City Hall. As stated above, staff will <br />Acquire no less than two written quotes for this purchase. <br /> <br /> <br />
