not meet ADA rules. He stated that he is excited to see the feature added to the parks system. He <br />stated that the whole park is different and will be used by other members of the community outside <br />of the neighborhood. <br />Chair Bennett stated that he drove through the neighborhood last weekend and noticed the sign <br />identifying the future park location. He believed that the residents would be very excited about <br />these amenities and supported getting started. He asked the timeline for buildout of the park. <br />Park & Assistant Public Works Director Riverblood stated that he is finalizing the RFP and <br />reviewed the timeline going forward. He anticipated that a few items may be backordered and <br />may not be installed right away. He stated that timing would be dependent on the contractor bids <br />received. He stated that staff brought this recommendation forward to get started with the zipline <br />as the timeline for the rest of the equipment would most likely be a few months out after bid <br />approval. <br />Commissioner Olson commented that when the Commission toured the property, he liked the old <br />growth forest that will be preserved. He commented that this will be a unique park and will serve <br />as an amenity for those residents south of Highway 10. <br />Councilmember Musgrove asked if there would be fencing or delineation between the zipline and <br />area being constructed. <br />Park & Assistant Public Works Director Riverblood replied that during construction the entire area <br />may have a safety fence to prevent children from entering that area where construction is occurring. <br />He noted that until construction begins, children would be free to play in that area. <br />Motion by Commissioner Barten, seconded by Commissioner Sis, to recommend to City Council <br />a not to exceed amount of $29,000 for the zip line for the neighborhood park in Riverstone South. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chair Bennett; Commissioners Barten, Sis, Arts, Leistico, Loss, and <br />Olson. Voting No: None. Absent: None. <br />5.02: Consider Park and Recreation 2023 Outdoor Meeting Schedule <br />Parks & Assistant Public Works Director Riverblood stated that for the past three decades the <br />Commission has conducted its summer meetings at different parks to review the condition in order <br />to make recommendations for improvements and to meet residents in the parks. He provided some <br />suggestions for meeting locations. <br />Chair Bennett commented that he enjoys holding the meetings in the park where they are able to <br />see people using the parks and check out some of the projects that have been completed or discuss <br />proposed projects. He agreed with the four locations proposed by staff. <br />Commissioner Loss asked the timing for the replacement of the parking lot at Central Park. <br />Park & Assistant Public Works Director Riverblood replied that is scheduled for late summer and <br />would most likely be completed in September. <br />Park and Recreation Commission/April 13, 2023 <br />Page 3 of 6 <br />
