CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: <br />Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: <br />09/ 12/2023 <br />Identify and implement operational efficiencies, cost savings and additional <br />funding sources. <br />Information <br />7. 2. <br />Title: <br />Adopt Resolution #23-204 for Counting Write -In Votes for Local Elective Office - Please Note: this case was <br />pulled from Consent 5.12 to become Case 7.2 on the Regular Agenda. <br />Purpose/Background: <br />Purpose/Background: One of the legislative changes made in 2023 regarding elections was that cities can now <br />adopt a resolution requiring that Write-in candidates submit a request in order to have their individual votes <br />tallied. Tallying write-in votes post election is a lengthy time -sensitive process. This change would align with <br />how write-in votes are tallied for Federal, State and County offices. This resolution will be upheld moving <br />forward.
