Councilman Reimann introduced the following resolution and moved for its <br />adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 80-68 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN THE ANOKA/CHAMPLIN/RAMSEY CABLE <br />CO~MISSION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey is included in an approved cable <br />service territory which includes two other cities in the major metropolitan <br />suburban area, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, recently amended Mir~uesota Statutes Section 238.08, <br />Subd. 5, authorizes municipalities to delegate to a joint cable commission <br />their power to prepare, adopt, grant, administer and enforce a cable <br />franchise and to establish rates thereunder, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is of the utmost importance for communities to <br />attempt to deal with the franchising process and with subsequent regulation <br />of cable television in a manner best serving the public interest, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by joint and cooperative action with other cities in <br />the approved cable service territory, the City of Ramsey can share in the <br />expense of the study of the franchising and regulatory process, can develop <br />a uniform approach to the matter of franchising, and can explore possi- <br />bilities of joint and common action on a permanent basis, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey deems it proper and in the public <br />interest to enter into a Joint and Cooperative Agreement presented at this <br />meeting and on file in the Office of the City Administrator/Clerk. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, <br />MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1) That the City of Ramsey participate in the Anoka/Champlin/ <br />Ramsey Cable Commission. <br /> <br /> 2) That the appropriate official execute the Joint and <br />Cooperative Agreement and file it with the City Manager of the City of <br />Champlin. <br /> <br /> 3) That the City of Ramsey appoint as its two Directors to <br />represent it on the Joint Commission, Comacilman Gary Reimar~nwho resides <br />at 18008 Waco Street N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303 and City Administrator <br />Lloyd G. Schnelle, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303 and <br />that said individuals' names, addresses and phone numbers be filed with <br />the City Administrator of the City of Champlin. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded <br />by Councilman Sorteberg and upon vote being taken thereon, the following <br />voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br /> <br />
