Councilmember Van Wanger introduced the following resolution and moved <br />for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #81-29 <br /> <br /> W}IEREAS, the Ramsey City Council at their special meeting of <br />April 16, 1981, authorized the City to hire an additional police officer <br />commencing June 1, 1981; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Chief of Police after an interview of candi- <br />dates submitted the name of Mr. James Balabon to fill the new police <br />officer position. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA <br />COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1) The Ramsey City Council authorized the hiring of Mr. James <br />Balabon as a police officer effective June 1, 1981. <br /> <br />2) That Mr. Balabon's salary be set as follows: <br /> <br />a) His starting salary will be salary step #1 $1,480 per <br /> month. <br /> <br />b) <br /> <br />January 1, 1982 he will move salary step #2 which will <br />be 85.86% of top police patrol wage for 1982 providing <br />he passes his six (6) month probationary period. <br /> <br />c) January 1, 1984 he will advance to top patrol salary. <br /> <br /> 3) It is further directed that a copy of this resolution be <br />furnished to the following persons: <br /> <br />a) Jeanne Moen, City Accountant <br />b) Mr. James Balabon, Police Office <br />c) Mr. Michael Auspos, Chief of Police <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded <br />by Councilmember Sorteberg and upon vote being taken thereon the follow- <br />ing voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Sorteberg and Van Wagner <br /> <br />and the following voted againstthe same: <br /> <br />Councilmembers Cox and Reimann <br /> <br />(Councilmember Cox and Reimann stated that their no vote was not to be <br />construed as a reflection on Mr. Balabon personally or his professional <br /> <br /> <br />
