Coumcilmember Cox introduced the following resolution and moved for its <br />adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #81-37 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING MEETING WITH GOVERNOR ALBERT QUIE REGARDING STATE <br />PROPERTY TAX LAWS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey's Economic Development Commission <br />has requested the Ramsey City Comacil to initiate action in regards to the <br />State Law that establishes the formula that is used for property tax levies <br />on homestead property, non homestead property and commercial property; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the present law creates too large a gap between the <br />commercial and the homestead property tax levies; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Business Association has requested the <br />Ramsey City Council to initiate immediate action at the State level to <br />bring a simulance of stability and fairness in our tax laws and other <br />ancillary state laws that are creating a chaotic situation to our com- <br />mercial and industrial community in the State of Minnesota; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Business Association has listed the <br />following laws as creating a serious situation in the State of Minnesota <br />which will create a deterioration of quality of life to all the citizens <br />in our great State, to wit <br /> <br />a) State property tax law formula <br />b) State Wo~kmen's Compensation insurance law <br />c) State Corporate tax law <br /> <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ramsey has had a <br />public meeting with their legislative representative who indicated in- <br />directly that the Governor's Office should be involved in this type of <br />legislation. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA <br />COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1) The Ramsey City Council hereby requests that the Governor <br />of the State of Minnesota come to the City of Ramsey to hear and discuss <br />with the City Council and its citizens the following: <br /> <br />a) Property tax law formula that creates a lapse <br />disparity between the following types of properties: <br /> <br />1) Commercial/Industrial <br />2) Non homestead residential <br />3) Homestead residential <br />4) Undeveloped land <br /> <br /> <br />
