Councilmember Cox introduced the following resolution and moved for its <br />adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #81-135 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION TO ANOKA COUNTY UNION REGARDING THE USING OF CITY OF RAMSEY <br />WHEN REFERRING TO RAMSEY BUSINESS AND COMMENDING THE RAMSEY REPORTER <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council, City of Ramsey, Anoka County, State <br />of Minnesota have noted with concern that the Anoka County Union, the City's <br />official newspaper, has reported on numerous occasions of happenings in the <br />City of Ramsey but has always cited these happenings as being in the City of <br />Anoka; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey City Council, City of Ramsey, Anoka County, <br />State of Minnesota commented on the fine coverage the Anoka County Union <br />reporter has done here in the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA <br />COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1) It is recognized that the City of Anoka Post Office serves <br />a number of cities in Anoka County as a cost saving factor for the U.S. <br />Postal Department. However, that does not mean that the City of Ramsey <br />should lose its individuality because of the above factor when you're re- <br />porting happenings that occur in the City of Ramsey but are reported as <br />happenings in the City of Anoka merely because the Anoka Post Office serves <br />the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br /> 2) Consequently, we are requesting that the newspeople at the <br />Anoka County Union office screen news happening and give the proper com- <br />munity the credit for the news. <br /> <br /> 3) We do want to commend your reporter Mr. Eric Sandin for his <br />fine job in reporting on the Ramsey news. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded <br />by Councilmember Van Wagner and upon vote being taken thereon, the follow- <br />ing voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Van Wagner, Sorteberg, Reimann and <br />Cox <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey <br />City Council this the 22nd day of September, 1981. <br /> <br />'-Councijm6mb~r~ S~6~ ~an Wagner <br />Counc"~lmCrfiBer Ggry Re±mann <br /> <br /> /l- <br /> <br />Counc' member Allen Sortebe~g <br /> <br />Counc± lmember Arnold <br /> <br /> <br />
