Mayor Gamec introduced the following resolution and moved for its adopti on: RESOLUTION #84-109 WHEREAS, the Council has received a proposed contract for the sale of the City's interest in the existing landfill site and eighty (80) acres immediately South and adjacent thereto, which property is legally described as follows: The South one-half (S 1/2) of the Southeast one-quarter (SE 1/4) of Section 22, Township 32, Range 25, Anoka County, Minnesota, The North one-half (N 1/2) of the Northeast one-quarter (NE 1/4) of Section 27, Township 32, Range 25, ,Anoka County, Minnesota; AND WHEREAS, the Council has held several executive sessions to discuss this subject in conjunction with the Ramsey vs. Anoka landfill suit; and WHEREAS, the Council has reviewed numerous drafts of a proposed contract, which contract has been discussed and negotiated by the City's Mayor and City Attorney pursuant to Council direction; and WHEREAS, the Council finds that its retention of an interest in the above-described property is not necessary for the City's purposes and that to sell the City's interest is in the City's best interests; and WHEREAS, the contract addresses the issue of liability relating to the existing landfill and provides for indemnification for the City of Ramsey; and WHEREAS, the consideration as described in the contract for the sale of the City's interest appears adequate; and WHEREAS, by the execution of this contract the City does not commit itself to the placing of an additional landfill site in the City. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA (JOUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the Mayor and City Administrator are authorized to sign in behalf of the City the contract as presented.
