Councilmember Schlueter introduced the following resolution and moved for its <br />adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #84-148 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REGARDING NEED FOR PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT TO IDENTIFY MAJOR ISSUES <br />RELATIVE TO TRAFFIC PROBLEMS IN NORTH HENNEPIN AND SOUTHWEST ANOKA COUNTY <br />AREAS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, representatives of the following communities and counties: <br />Cities of Andover, Anoka, Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Coon Rapids, Dayton, Ramsey <br />and the Counties of Anoka and Hennepin have appointed representatives to a <br />task force to analyze and make recommendations relative to traffic problems <br />common to the area (as an example, the Ferry Street crossing of the Mississippi <br />River between Anoka and Champlin); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this group has met and determined that there is a need for <br />an umbrella organization with area-wide jurisdiction to coordinate the efforts <br />of the task force; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council is playing, and has played, such a <br />role in other similar situations, i.e., CAB sewer, Metropolitan Stadium, sewer <br />separation, storm water drainage problems, etc., it is the desire of the com- <br />munities and counties involved to have the Metropolitan Council play a similar <br />coordinating, planning role in this multi-jurisdictional problem. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1) That the City Council of the City of Ramsey formally requests <br />through the affected areas' representatives to the Metropolitan Council, <br />Commissioner Josephine Nunn and Commissioner Don Stein, that the Metropolitan <br />Council coordinate the activities of the North Metro Traffic Task Force and <br />perform a preliminary assessment of the need(s) for traffic improvements for <br />the area in question. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Councilmember Reimann and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted <br />in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Van Wagner, Sorteberg, Schlueter and <br />Reimann <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey <br />City Council this the 14th day of August, 1984. <br /> <br /> <br />
