Councilmember Van Wagner introduced the following resolution and moved for its <br />adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #84-237 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING ~/~E HIRING OF ADDITIONAL POLICE OFFICER <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey City Council approved of Supplement #2 by Council <br />Resolution #83-175 dated September 27, 1983 to the 1984 City Budget for the <br />funding to hire an additional police officer in year 1985; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey City Council approved of providing funding for the <br />hiring of the additional officer in the 1985 City Budget; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council Budget Committee has requested that the subject <br />officer be hired in 1984 and commence work on January 1, 1985; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a memo dated November 30, <br />1984 containing a list of candidates who have been screened for said position <br />and his recommendation; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Administrator has reviewed said memo and hereby sub- <br />mits it to Council for review and action. <br /> <br />NOW ~HEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY ~E CITY CO(3NCIL OF ~}{E CITY OF RAMSE¥, ANOKA <br />COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1) That the City of Ramsey hire Mr. Jeffrey Parks for the position of <br />police patrol office with the following requirements: <br /> <br />a) Effective date of employment is hereby established as December <br /> 15, 1984. <br /> <br />b) <br /> <br />Probationary period shall be for a period of one (1) year ex- <br />piring December 31, 1985 which is in accordance with Article <br />VII of the police labor contract. <br /> <br />c) Salary schedule is hereby established as follows: <br /> <br />First year: January 1, 1985 - December 31, 1985 - paid 79% of <br /> top patrol officer wage. <br /> <br />Second year and thereafter to be paid top patrol officer wage. <br /> <br />d) <br /> <br />Proficiency pay shall be paid four (4) years from date of hire <br />providing all requirements contained in Article XX of the <br />police labor contract are met. <br /> <br />2) It is directed that the following be accomplished: <br /> <br />a) <br /> <br />That a copy of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Jeffrey <br />Parks explaining conditions of employment in regards to pro- <br />bationary period, salary, work schedule, requirements, etc. <br /> <br />b) That all City fringe benefits be fully explained to him. <br /> <br />c) That all personnel requirements be explained to him by the <br /> Chief of Police. <br /> <br /> <br />
