Councilmember Cox introduced the following resolution and moved <br />for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #85-74 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE PRESERVATION OF THE FEDERAL REVENUE <br />SHARING PROGRAM UgER OTHER FEDERAL ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey receives federal revenue <br />sharing funds in the amount of $47,133 for Entitlement Period 16, <br />October 1, 1984 through September 30, 1985; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey has utilized revenue <br />sharing funds for capital outlay expenditures such as public <br />works, police and park equipment as well as park development; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this use of revenue sharing funds has <br />benefitted the entire community of Ramsey and has stabilized the <br />property tax levy in the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the federal revenue sharing program is more <br />flexible to meet the needs of the City of Ramsey than are other <br />federal entitlement programs, namely, the U.S. Department of <br />Housing and Urban Development's Community Development Block Grant <br />program; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the federal revenue sharing program is more <br />easily administered than other federal entitlement programs named <br />above; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there is discussion at the federal level to <br />eliminate the federal revenue sharing program. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA OOUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1) That the City of Ramsey supports the preservation <br />of the federal revenue sharing program over other federal <br />entitlement programs such as the Department of Housing and Urban <br />Develot~nent's Community Develot~nent Block Grant program. <br /> <br /> 2) That the City of Ramsey maintains that if any <br />federal entitlement programs are to be preserved, it should be <br />the federal revenue sharing program. <br /> <br /> 3) That a copy of this resolution be forwarded to <br />Senator David Durenberger, Senator Rudy Boschwitz, and <br />Congressman Gerry Sikorski. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly <br />seconded by Councilmember Reimann and upon vote being taken <br />thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> Resolution ~85-74 <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
