Councilmember Sorteberg introduced the following <br />resolution and--moved ~r its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ~85-112 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Lions have applied for a charitable <br />gambling license from the Minnesota State Charitable Gambling <br />Control Board; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is essential to the Ramsey Lions that <br />they receive this license as soon as possible; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, MSA 349.233 requires the State Charitable <br />Gambling Control Board to notify the City Council before issuing <br />a gambling license, and permits the City to adopt a resolution <br />disapproving the license, if said resolution is adopted within 30 <br />days of notification from the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City does not desire to disapprove of <br />the license to the Ramsey Lions. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Ramsey City <br />Council as follows: <br /> <br />That the City does approve of the State Charitable <br />Gambling Control Board issuing a charitable gambling <br />license to the Ramsey Lions; <br /> <br />That the City Council hereby waives the thirty (30) day <br />period within which the City may act to disapprove the <br />said license, which 30 day period is granted to the City <br />pursuant to MSA 349.213, Subd.2. <br /> <br /> The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was <br />duly seconded by Councilmember Cox and <br />upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor <br />thereof: <br /> <br />Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox and Reimann <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> None <br /> <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman, Councilmember Schlueter <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
