Councilmember Schlueter introduced the following resolution and <br />moved for its adoption: <br /> <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ~85-219 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE SITING OF ADDITIONAL SOLID <br />WASTE DISPOSAL FACILITITES IN THE CITY OF RAHSEY: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey has reluctantly been a host <br />community to a major Metropolitan landfill site for eighteen (]8) <br />years; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said site currently occupies ]60 acres of prime <br />Ramsey industrial property; and <br /> <br /> WHERF. AS, the ground water located underneath said <br /> <br />landfill site is contaminated; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said landfill creates a nuisance to Ramsey <br />residents because of its odor, dust and visual impact; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said landfill adversely affects the market <br /> <br />value of adjacent properties; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Anoka County has selected Ramsey as a City for <br />the possibile siting of landfill site "P"; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, because of all of the above Ramsey has had its <br />share of the landfill industry and wants no more. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Ramsey City <br /> <br />Council as follows: <br /> <br /> That the City Council opposes any siting by Anoka County <br /> of a waste to energy facility within the Ramsey City <br /> limits. <br /> <br /> <br />
