Councilwemt:~er Sorteberg introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #88-75 <br /> <br />RES¢)I,I[iTiON ACKNOWLEDGING <br />MEDI{g~T1ON SERVICES FOR <br /> ANOKA <br />FIRST YEAR <br /> <br /> AND CONGRATULATING <br />COUNTY FOR A SUCCESSFUL <br /> <br /> WI l EREAS, Mediation Services for Anoka County was established in 1987 for <br />the purp(,sc o.: assisting citizens of Anoka County in resolving disputes through the use of <br />a neulral, fldr(! party volunteer mediator; and <br /> <br /> ~HEREAS, Mediation Services for Anoka County is a community program <br />which is :m effective grassroots vehicle for introducing the public to effective conflict <br />managca,;nt and to resolution of disputes; and <br /> <br /> WtlEREAS, in every community there are numerous disputes which are not <br />amenabic to l,:.gal proceedings or police action, but disrupt lives of individuals involved; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mediation Services for Anoka County is staffed by volunteers that <br />are mcdialors, case developers, office staff and board members; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, these volunteers served 324 people during its first year and totaled <br />more !~hmt ~ ,,(~O hours of volunteer service. <br /> <br />NOW T~IEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY (}17 RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as <br />follows:: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />'Fhat the Ramsey City Council hereby acknowledges and congratulates <br />Mediation Services for Anoka County for a successful fkst year. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />'i'h4t the Ramsey City Council hereby extends its deep appreciation to the many <br />vol m.eers who worked so diligently to make Anoka County and especially the <br />City of Ramsey a better place to live. <br /> <br />3) lh~,: the City Council hereby bestows upon them the designation of <br /> "()._l'standing Citizens" of Ramsey. <br /> <br />The rnotio~ ;or the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Councilmcmb~;r Pearson and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor <br />thereof: <br /> <br />and thc folt(~wiag voted against the same: <br /> <br /> <br />
