City of Ramsey and Mayor Marilyn <br />Corcoran, (',i[y of Dayton, submitted a joint letter to Mayor James Krautkramer. President of <br />Northern M.yo,?; Association requesting the Transportation Advisory Board to review and <br />consider fu~.~[.(~ c'~ossings of the Mississippi River Bridge to consider the Cities of Dayton and <br />Ramscy in l,}mir ~,lans for said bridge crossing; and <br /> <br />WIIEREAS, !J~e (',ity of Ramsey Economic Development Commission has sent correspondences <br />(dated ,January If, 1989) to various Economic Development entities (e.g., Anoka Area Chamber of <br />Commerce, Anok~ County Chamber of Commerce, etc.) to solicit their support for a Ramsey/ <br />Dayton Mis;:~';:-;,,,ippi River Bridge crossing; and <br /> <br />WIIEREAS, th(, 19~ard of Directors of the Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce passed a resolution at <br />their Janm~ry 24, 1989 Board meeting backing the proposed Mississippi River crossing from <br />Dayton to l~;amscy, thc basis of which was predicated on a January 1989 Chamber Newsletter <br />article on whir:h t}~c Chamber office received 63 calls of which 62 were supportive of the crossing <br />and one u,a.~, ~i:vi~si;; and <br /> <br />WIIEREAS, lhv ~/~ USA / COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT for the City of Ramsey dated <br />January 26, :!!)3!) clearly shows a river bridge crossing from Ramsey to Dayton on its Thorough- <br />fare Plan (Map 4) dated January 9, 1989; and <br /> <br />WIIEREA,~;, )!),~{~q ~,he City of Dayton has amended its comprehensive plan to reflect a proposed <br />Ramscy/Dayto,-, rv:i,qsissippi River Bridge crossing, and; <br /> <br />WttEREA~¢, the Mmnesota Department of Transportation's District 20 Year Plan has no mention <br />of an Ano!~a/~l(,,mcpin thoroughfare (Dayton/Ramsey Mississippi River Bridge crossing); and <br /> <br />WIIEREA:¢, Ij~¢~ Minnesota Department of Transportation recommends that local units of <br />govern,ncr, l: o~odi(',,/ their Comprehensive Plans to show the AnokaJHennepin thoroughfare; and <br /> <br />WI1EREA~;, o~ce I,h,: thoroughfare is in the Comprehensive Plans, efforts should be made to have <br />Metropolitan C,(_~m~c]l include the proposed Mississippi River Bridge crossing in the Metropolitan <br />Transportr,.ti,),~ iqrm of the Metropolitan Development Guide; <br /> <br />NOW TIII,;Iii~;~;'()I'.:E, Big gl' RESOLVED that the City of Ramsey reaffirms it's desire for a <br />Rarnsey/1)ay~;tm M~ssissippi River Bridge crossing. <br /> <br />Big IT I,'URTIt~;I~ RESOLVED that City staff be directed to revise it's City Plans to reflect the <br />proposed l'~am:;cy/!~ayton Mississippi River Bridge crossing; and <br /> <br />BE IT FUI]'I'il I",;i I,.'_ESOLVED that City staff is directed to proceed with solicitation of support from <br />other Munic[l);~lil, ic~;, State Agencies, and other affected agencies to effectuate the development and <br />implcment~lt';(,~ ,C a Ramsey/I)ayton Mississippi River Bridge crossing. <br /> <br /> <br />
