Cotmcilmc,~ ~I~,:.:' ~'etcrson iutroduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> RESOLUTION #89-09-266 <br /> <br />RESOLUI~tOf'~ REQUESTING METRO DISTRICT OF THE MINNESOTA <br />DEPARTIV!ENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND ANOKA COUNTY DEPARTMENT <br />OF TRANSPORTATION TO ERECT TRAFFIC SIGNALS WITH PEDESTRIAN <br />CROSSINGS AT TIlE INTERSECTION OF STATE HIGHWAY #47 AND <br />COUNTY ~,()A.I) #116 IN THE CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> <br /> W}I~,;RI,:AS, the Anoka County Department of Transportation has constructed the <br />realignmor~t cf (Bunty Road #116 (Industry Avenue Northwest) as part of the soon-to-be <br />construct,zd l~tm,~ ~ iver Bridge Crossing; and <br /> <br /> WHEP,.EAS, the new intersection of Industry Avenue Northwest and St. Francis <br />Boulevard Northwest (State Highway #47) is currently being wired for traffic lights although there <br />is no plann,.:(i timo ~br the actual installation of said signals; and <br /> <br /> WIlI,;I:IEAS~ extensive pedestrian use of the Rum River Bridge Crossing is anticipated <br />since the !~rid g(~ w ill connect the Anoka Senior High School and Ice Arena with Ramsey residential <br />neighborhr, ~, Is ~md a traffic signal with pedestrian crossing is needed at this intersection; and <br /> <br /> W l~l*;l~ E A S, on August 24, 1989, a child riding a bicycle was involved in a vehicle <br />accident at ~h is i.morsection; and <br /> <br /> YVIIEI4EAS, the City has received numerous inquiries from residents stating their <br />concerns rcga~di~,g the need for a controlled crossing (both vehicle and pedestrian), at said <br />intersectic,~; ;~-,~1 <br /> <br /> Wlil',;I~.EAS, on September 14, 1989, the Ramsey Park and Recreation Commission <br />recomme~ded lh:t~ a traffic signal, including a pedestrian crossing, be erected at the new County <br />Road/ti 16 ;~t~rl 5;i~te Highway//47 intersection; and <br /> <br /> Wl~'l~:~i~;~tS, on September 19, 1989, the Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission <br />concurred witk, the Park and Recreation Commission recommendation that a traffic signal be <br />erected at the new County Road #116 and State Highway #47 intersection. <br /> <br />NOW TII]E~'d~liORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OV k:AMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1) '~'h;,t thc City hereby requests Metro District of the Minnesota Department of <br />Transport;,.tio~'~ :mr the Anoka County Department of Transportation to erect traffic signals with <br />pedestrian cms:&q!: at the intersection of County Road #116 and State Highway #47 in the City of <br />Ramsey. <br /> <br /> 2) TI~.t~: Ire Mayor, on behalf of the City is authorized to communicate this Resolution <br />to Meu'o Di.s[~ i,::[~ ot the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Anoka County Department <br />of Transpori ;t'~ i~ <br /> <br /> <br />
