Councihnetnber {i6;Luca introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #89-11-309 RESOLUT!()N ~IEQUESTING MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO RELAX V,IEIGI'/T RESTRICTIONS ON THE FERRY STREET/MISSISSIPPI RIVER BRIDGE W!~IEREAS, the Economic Development Commission of the City of Ramsey has recently (:orr, pteted the 1989 Business Retention and Expansion Survey; and W~]EREAS, the Business Retention and Expansion Survey showed an adverse economic impact on the City's businesses by the weight restrictions on the Ferry Street/Mi.%i,,;~;ippi River Bridge; and Wi-tEREAS, the Economic Development Commission of the City of Ramsey requested C,:mnc:,I action to request that the Minnesota Department of Transportation relax the weight restrictions; and WI tEREAS, the proposed temporary bridge has been given priority constructior~ .~;hthJs and completion is expected in 1991. NOW THEF,'EFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOK,,". COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1 ) That the Minnesota Department of Transportation study the new bridge replacement .,;chedule and the safety requirements to determine if the current weight restrictions or~ tl~e Ferry Street/Mississippi River Bridge could be relaxed. 2) That the Ramsey City Council continue its support for the timely completion oi il~e Ferry Street/Mississippi Bridge Replacement Project.
