Coancilmcmbcr l'~tcrson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #90-03-073 <br /> <br />RESOIAITION SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK <br />(;RANT PROGRAMS AS PART OF THE 1990 NATIONAL COMMUNITY <br />DEVEI,OPMEN'F WEEK <br /> <br /> WIII~;RE/~tS, the week of April 7 through April 14, 1990 has been designated as <br />National Commtmity Development Week and Anoka County is a participant in the Community <br />Developmem Block Grant (CDBG) program which funds a variety of social service, economic <br />devclopmt:nl', lmblic utility and housing programs in this community; and <br /> <br /> WtIgREAS, this community recognizes that during the last nine years a partnership of <br />Federal, local government, non-profit and community efforts has enabled Anoka County to utilize <br />$13.5 million of Ii U D allocated CDBG funds for public facilities, business development, human <br />services, hou:fing development and development and rehabilitation to aid its low-income citizens <br />and to p re.~e~ nc igh borhoods. <br /> <br />NOW TIIEI,tEI,'ORE, BE Iq' RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />Th at t lu;5 n~; the 1990 National Community Development Week, Anoka County extends <br />special thanks and recognition to all participants, whose hard work and devotion to the <br />neighborhoods and their low and moderate income residents, help insure the quality and <br />eficctivtme:~s of the Community Development Block Grant Program. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />That Anoka County, along with the service providers and others whose names are <br />appended io this resolution, hereby petition the U.S. Congress and Administration to <br />recognize ~he outstanding work being done locally and nationally by the Community <br />l)¢vclolm~nt Block Grant Program and its vital importance to the community and people <br />who live i~; its lower income neighborhoods. <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />Thai copie>; of this resolution be conveyed to the appropriate elected and appointed officials <br />in th~: l;ed¢,ral government and that Anoka County's name, and the names of its nonprofit <br />se~ vice providers, be added to the roll of those committed to the preservation and full <br />funding ~f the Community Development Block Grant and maintenance of its essential <br />feattm:s own' the course of the next Congress. <br /> <br />Motion for thc adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Councilmember DeLuca and <br />upon vote bci~g iai.cCh thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Co tl~(:J !~I ~c'.~Bber Peterson <br />Cotmcilmc~ nber DeLuca <br />Cotmcilmemlyor Cich <br />Council'member Pein'son <br /> <br />and the fo]lowi~g. ,,'otcd against the same: <br /> <br />Nont; <br /> <br />and the tbllo'~a,i~g ~d)stained: <br /> <br />NO 11 t; <br /> <br /> <br />
