Councilmember Peterson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #91-05-118 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING MEDICAL LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PATROL <br />OFFICER JAMES SINGEWALD <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, consistent with City of Ramsey past practices, medical leaves of absence <br />have been granted by the employer (City of Ramsey); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Patrol Officer James Singewald has requested a medical leave of absence <br />beginning May 14, 1991; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Singewald had requested that the medical leave be as leave without pay <br />to save his accrued sick and vacation time; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Staff reviewed the request and recommended to the Personnel Committee at <br />their May 14, 1991 meeting, to have the medical leave for Mr. Singewald be used as sick time, but <br />to write a policy that would allow employees, if requested, to use all accrued vacation and <br />compensatory time, but first use all but 40 hours of their accrued sick time as 'insurance'; with <br />such policy to be only used in the case of medical leaves; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Personnel Committee agreed with the recommendation of staff to allow <br />Mr. Singewald the medical leave of absence as sick time, but allow the employee to maintain 40 <br />hours of sick time as 'insurance', if requested. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the City Council of the City of Ramsey hereby approves the medical leave of absence <br />request for James Singewald effective May 14, 1991, using accrued sick time, but allowing <br />Mr. Singewald to maintain 40 hours of sick time as 'insurance', if requested. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Beyer and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gilbertson <br />Councilmember Peterson <br />Councilmember Beyer <br />Councilmember Hardin <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember Cich <br /> <br /> <br />
