Councilmember Peterson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #91-05-118 RESOLUTION APPROVING MEDICAL LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PATROL OFFICER JAMES SINGEWALD WHEREAS, consistent with City of Ramsey past practices, medical leaves of absence have been granted by the employer (City of Ramsey); and WHEREAS, Patrol Officer James Singewald has requested a medical leave of absence beginning May 14, 1991; and WHEREAS, Mr. Singewald had requested that the medical leave be as leave without pay to save his accrued sick and vacation time; and WHEREAS, Staff reviewed the request and recommended to the Personnel Committee at their May 14, 1991 meeting, to have the medical leave for Mr. Singewald be used as sick time, but to write a policy that would allow employees, if requested, to use all accrued vacation and compensatory time, but first use all but 40 hours of their accrued sick time as 'insurance'; with such policy to be only used in the case of medical leaves; and WHEREAS, the Personnel Committee agreed with the recommendation of staff to allow Mr. Singewald the medical leave of absence as sick time, but allow the employee to maintain 40 hours of sick time as 'insurance', if requested. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the City Council of the City of Ramsey hereby approves the medical leave of absence request for James Singewald effective May 14, 1991, using accrued sick time, but allowing Mr. Singewald to maintain 40 hours of sick time as 'insurance', if requested. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Beyer and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Gilbertson Councilmember Peterson Councilmember Beyer Councilmember Hardin and the following voted against the same: None and the following abstained: None and the following were absent: Councilmember Cich
