The purpose of the Shoreland Overlay District is to provide for the wise <br /> 5 utilization of shoreland areas in order to preserve the quality and natural character of these <br /> 6 public waters of the city. Boundaries of the Shoreland Overlay District shall be as defined by <br /> 7 shoreland in section 117-1. <br /> 8 (B) Land use district descriptions. Any uses of shorelands in existence prior to the date of enactment of this Code <br /> 20 which are permitted within the applicable zoning district, but do not meet the minimum lot area, <br /> 21 setbacks or other dimensional requirements of this Code are substandard uses. Substandard uses, <br /> 22 including substandard sanitary facilities, shall be allowed to continue. However, any structural <br /> 23 alteration or addition to a substandard use that will increase the substandard dimensions shall not <br /> 24 be allowed. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 <br /> 27 (B) Zoning provisions; lot area and width standards. The following standards shall apply to all <br /> 28 shorelands of the public waters listed in Section 942 within the city. Where the requirements of the <br /> 29 underlying zoning district as shown on the official Zoning Map are more restrictive than those set <br /> 30 forth herein, then the more restrictive standards shall apply.
